Bedsore: Ulcer Prevention & Treatment
These are terms often used by people who see a Stage 4 bedsore(
decubitus ulcer) for the first time. All
bedsores have the potential to develop into a decubitus ulcer (like
the one shown above)
unless rapid and careful intervention occurs. People confined to a bed or
wheelchair are continually challenged by pressure points, friction,
skin moisture and the possibility of developing bedsores. Stage 4 bedsores or decubitus ulcers
develop from the initial skin redness often seen in the tail bone
and heel areas. This skin redness, abrasion,
or swelling is the warning sign that an ulcer may be developing.
Ulcers develop through 4 stages. To see this progression,
M104 = M102 + M103XD + W103E.

A larger alternative to the HiTemp UR Medical Sheepskin, is the Hospital Bed Nursing Fleece ( F102). - a wool-pile pad( 35" X 80" ). The pile looks and feels like a sheepskin, but is larger. The dense 30 mm pile Hospital Nursing Fleece is machine washable and is kept in place by an elasticized skirt. Protect the whole body with the F102 by lying directly on the wool.
